Paddle Paddle Paddle

In 2019 my husband and I decided to take on the Whanganui River Journey (What were we thinking?!). We hired a Canadian Canoe in Raetihi and then spent three days in the wilderness negotiating some very intimidating rapids and with long days of paddling to make campsites before nightfall. We managed to flip the canoe on the very first rapid twenty minutes into our trip, and due to my gear barrel being not quite as watertight as promised, three very soggy days followed. To this day I am amazed that we made it to the final landing at Pipiriki.

“Paddle paddle paddle!” was the shout that went out as we approached each rapid, and brings back memories of myself furiously trying to paddle in the front when the nose of the canoe was pushed sky high by the waves of a rapid and ending up paddling the air instead.

The print “Paddle Paddle Paddle” is about great adventures, and the spirit to keeping on paddling even when your canoe is mid-air – You never know when you’ll managed to dig into one of the rapid’s waves again.

So just keep paddling everyone…
