Botanic II

This small green building sits on the Observatory Lawn in the Christchurch Botanic Gardens. It was part of a complex that was used by Scott and Shackleton’s Antarctic teams to make magnetic surveys in preparation for their expeditions.

I love the idea that expeditions to a world of swirling white and grey could have started in a place so green and lush.
