The Rimu and Kauri trees stand tall and proud to form the forest canopy, with arching Nikau palms and Kawakawa in the understory below. Epiphytes cling to the forks of the trees and a rata vine reaches upwards for light. Underneath all these, ferns and young trees jostle for space…
Water finding its path between boulders. The flora hugging the sides of the stream. Branches arching over making a green tunnel. An artwork expressing the essence of the New Zealand bush. Sit awhile and enjoy the tranquility with me.
It was the height of Autumn and the colours of the foliage were beautiful whichever way you turned. I was drawn to this small world beneath the trees that featured a tiny Fly Agaric Toadstool at its centre.
An artwork about finding peace in beautiful places.
The bush wraps around you in a comforting embrace. Here you are free.
Rocks separate the flow of the stream, parting the waters before they rejoin once more to travel to the sea. A Piwakawaka (fantail) watches on, a symbol of another parting of ways - from one world to the next.
The tangle of supplejack makes the way forward uncertain and seemingly impenetrable, but suddenly a robin appears as if to show the way.
