Autumn Layers
This artwork was inspired by a scene near Lake Ruataniwha near Twizel. It was the height of Autumn and the colours of the foliage were beautiful whichever way you turned. I was drawn to this small world beneath the trees that featured a tiny Fly Agaric Toadstool at its centre.
The colours were one of the highlights of this scene, and so I chose to use a multi-block printing technique to add the Autumn colours before adding the strong black and white structure of the trees, and the patterns made by the carpet of leaves.
